nickadamsNick Adams is a Jazz pianist and recent graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He started the piano aged three and was classically trained until the age of 16, when he began his jazz education at the Birmingham Conservatoire junior department. He joined a local big band called the Notebenders where he was able to learn the foundations of playing with large ensembles.
Nick has been able to study with jazz legends such as John Taylor, George Colligan and Greg Osby, while receiving regular lessons from pianists John Turville and Liam Noble. Nick’s main influences include Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett and Robert Glasper, his ambition is to integrate their styles into his playing, as well as his own, to create his own individual sound.
Nick has worked closely with music organisations such as ‘Jazzlines’, ‘On The Edge’ and ‘Music Service’ and has had the chance to perform with his trio at the Symphony Hall as well as on Channel 4 news. Nick has recorded two albums with his sextet and quartet. Nick has also led music workshops at various schools, helping the next generation learn and appreciate music.
