Nathan England Jones was awarded the “Tony Levin Drum Prize’ for performance in 2015 and graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2016, he is now a freelance musician and instrumental tutor based in Birmingham, specialising in drum kit and percussion. Nathan has worked as a tutor for both group workshops and individual lessons across a broad spectrum of abilities, from beginners through to advanced musicians. As a performer, most often playing improvised music, with experience across a diverse range of musical situations.
Nathan has been an assistant tutor with the Birmingham THSH Jazzlines Ensemble since 2015 and a workshop tutor with ‘On The Edge’ since 2014. His performances have recently included the Elliott Samson Trio at 2016 BBC Late Night Prom, broadcast on Radio 3. Nathan has also toured in Europe with electronic producer Ghost Culture, including Les Inrocks Festival France. And as soloist in Harrison Birtwistle concerto for Saxophone and Drum Kit, ‘Panic’ with Thallein Orchestra conducted by Richard Baker.
