Those who have been following ‘On The Edge’ know that we began refreshing our partnerships and setting up new projects at the end of 2023, our first opportunities since COVID held us back. We are extremely pleased with the outpouring of appreciation and enthusiasm from old and new communities as we get back to putting on events, workshops and community activities to find out what our local children, young people and their families are looking out for when it comes to making music.

‘On The Edge’ is back with a new trustee board, recruited in 2023, including a mix of local and specialist trustees. Through funding received from Birmingham City Council’s BE BOLD campaign, ‘On The Edge was able to start activities in school, community and high street venues, bringing tuition and performance from students and graduates from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. One of those performances even included the recent 2023 BBC Radio Scotland Young Jazz Musician of the Year, Ben Shankland.

Venues, schools and families have told ‘On The Edge’ what they want, and we are busy getting opportunities in place to make new projects happen in the coming months. A lot of feedback has been gathered from interested families, potential volunteers and new partners and ‘On The Edge’ anticipate making more good things happen soon.

As with all things, charity begins with funding, and if you are able, we would very much appreciate your support, please consider a direct donation via the ‘On The Edge’ Localgiving page.
