Have we got news for you….what do you get if you cross a flash mob with a mash up? A Flash Up! that’s what.

We’re calling 12 young pro musicians who take their music scenes ‘by the scruff of the neck and give them a thorough shaking’ to provide a minute of their music and a chart to go with it. These 12 minutes of music from a diverse range of genres will be available to local under-19 year old music students via this website for them to download for preparation for the 29 August BOA ‘Meet the Musician’ workshop. The competition itself will culminate in a public performance (and video recording) at one of 12 iconic Birmingham locations as part of this years Artsfest. Recordings of these Flash Up! performances will be submitted to ‘On The Edge’ and our partners Punch Records as competition entries for a chance to win £200.

We’ll be sharing more info about how to get involved with Flash Up! at a number of events in the next few weeks including our Envision Grads meet on 13 August and our stall at Breakin’ Out on the 22 August at the MAC.

COMING SOON Keep an eye on the website for Flash Up! sound files and charts and news about how to take part in the Flash Up! workshop at the Birmingham Ormiston Academy on 29 August as part of our partner Punch Records Music Potential.

If you’re an up and coming musician and would like to contribute a minute of your music there’s still chance to get involved.  Check out the Flash Up! Artist Brief for more info.
